Museum Refresh Underway

4/13/2019

Visitors to the John Kane House, the site of Pawling's community history museum, will soon have a deeper view into Pawling's early history. The Historical Society of Quaker Hill and Pawling, which operates the museum, is working with museum curator Kathy Craughwell-Varda to prepare two new permanent exhibits on the settlement of Pawling and the Revolutionary War. Among the new highlights will be an in-depth profile of the Kane family, which owned the site of the museum when George Washington used it as his headquarters from September to December 1778.

The Historical Society will debut its new exhibits to the public in late May. Those interested in volunteering as weekend tour guides should email the Historical Society at pawlinghistory@gmail.com.
