Pawling Historical Society Announces Opening for the 2024 Season on Saturday, May 4
Pawling, NY – The Pawling Historical Society is pleased to announce the opening of its doors for the 2024 season, scheduled for Saturday, May 4. As part of its ongoing mission to preserve and celebrate the rich history of Pawling and its surrounding areas, the Society has curated three new exhibits that promise to offer visitors an immersive and educational experience.
VR Washington Headquarters
Step back in time with this virtual recreation of the Kane House as it appeared when George Washington used it as his headquarters from September to November 1778. This immersive experience offers visitors a glimpse into the past and highlights the strategic importance of Pawling during the Revolutionary War.
Pawling: Then and Now
The Society's town photo gallery has been updated with an interactive twist. Visitors can now view historic images of the town alongside current photos, providing a fascinating glimpse into how Pawling has evolved over the years.
Opening Summer 2024: All Aboard! 1848. The Train Comes to Pawling!
This unique exhibit provides a highlighted look at the history of Pawling from the 1848 s through the early 19th century. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore the culture and changes that took place with the arrival of the train through interactive exhibits featuring QR codes that provide additional information and context.
The John Kane House, home to the Pawling Historical Society, serves as a hub for the community's history, offering insights into the area's indigenous and European settlers, the Anti-Rent Rebellion, and the profound impact of the Revolutionary War on the Pawling community.
